Whip Check

A Whip Check is used to prevent serious injury due to hose or coupling failure. This can be caused by the sudden release of energy in the hose in the form of high pressure air, steam or a liquid under pressure. The whip check stops the hoses from flying about causing injury or damage to the surroundings.

Description

Use a Whip Check at each hose connection and from equipment to hose. Install in the fully extended position (no slack) for proper safety assurance. Spring-loaded loops in the cable ends open easily to slip over the couplings for a firm grip on the hose. The spring loaded loops are merely slipped over the pipe before they are coupled together.
Whip checks are made from corrosion resistant high strength steel. No tools are required in installing the whip check onto the piping. It must be remembered that the size of the whip check must match the size of the pipe and the pressure that is in the pipe.
Whip checks are used commonly on hoses carrying air, steam, concrete, hydraulic, sandblasting and on all hoses used in high pressure applications.
Whip Checks have been made mandatory by Workers Compensation Baords, the Bureau of Mines, OSHA and other Government bodies.
The use of Whip Checks can save lives and limit damage to vehicles and other equipment.
